ODOR PREVENTATIVE TECHNOLOGY
MICROBIOME INSPIRED

The future of deodorant formulation is working with our biology to shift scent naturally.

INTRODUCTION:
Traditional ways of managing odor involve blocking sweat, antibacterial activity, or masking smells. These approaches have also reinforced the sense of shame around our odor. Arcaea sees odor as something biological rather than chemical. Advances in bioinformatics, the skin microbiome and screening methods exist today that we view as new tools to create better solutions. ScentARC is the first launch in a portfolio of actives focused on creating new technologies to biologically shift our scent in a natural yet precise fashion.

THE APPROACH:

ScentARC technology, developed via high throughput screening and machine learning, is a precise nutrient blend that impacts underarm microbes, shifting odor profile by selectively preventing the body’s production of odorous compounds. Preventing malodor all day long is now uniquely and naturally possible without harming helpful bacteria, irritating the sensitive underarm area, or clogging pores.

THE DATA:

Analysis of underarm microbiota reveals the revolutionary deodorizing mechanism of ScentARC prebiotic. Underarm swabs of volunteers demonstrate, eight hours after application of a deodorant containing 4% ScentARC, microbiota communities have shifted to increase the proportion of beneficial bacteria like Staphylococcus sp. and show significant decreases in Corynebacterium sp. bacteria known to produce malodorous compounds.

High throughput biological screening + machine learning

High levels of natural deodorant performance with no masking fragrances, no bactericides, and no pore clogging

No use of harsh or irritating chemicals in the sensitive underarm area

Milder products that enhance the consumer experience

Increased levels of beneficial microbiota under the arm

‍Promotes barrier repair and healthy skin

ANALYSIS OF THE UNDERARM MICROBIOME TREATED WITH SCENTARC SHOWS REDUCTION OF ODOR CAUSING BACTERIA CORYNEBACTERIUM SP. AND STAPHYLOCOCCUS HOMINIS SP. WHEN COMPARED TO PLACEBO.

What consumers are saying

said they were protected from underarm malodor all day long

said they were satisfied with the duration of odor protection

said they would buy the product

said the product was non-irritating
