Today in WWD we announced a strategic investment and partnership with OLAPLEX – a proven innovator and pioneer in haircare. The transaction was completed in Q3 2021.
Their expertise in haircare, as well as a shared desire to see new advances to improve consumer health, is reflective of the shared future we want to see in beauty. Arcaea’s mission is to build a new, regenerative future for the beauty industry through expressive biology—where biology is used as a creative tool for self-expression – and hair is a big part of that.
This isn’t the first time haircare flirted with biology. The 1980s and 90s there was interest in the biology of hair, but the tools to understand and leverage biology much less developed. This impacted the trajectory of haircare for decades to come. (More on that below if you’re curious).
Today, we have many more tools to understand hair and skin from the point of view of biology. At Arcaea, we’re working with these tools to build the future foundation of the beauty industry and drive the next chapters of innovation. To make this a reality, we are fortunate to be adding Olaplex to the group of fantastic partners we have in Wittington Ventures, Chanel, Givaudan, Viking and Cascade, whose investments we announced in October.
